She doesn't like him.
Really, she doesn't. She dislikes his arrogance, his knack for annoying nicknames, how he never tries to do anything to his full potential. She doesn't like his smirk, or how he teases her, or how he always makes jokes either at other's expense or glorifying himself.
She doesn't like him, but she can't help that she loves him. How he called her eyes beautiful; how he called her beautiful. How his ordeal with Rose was so tragic and how she's somehow helping him get over her.
She doesn't like him, no, but she does love him.

Sometimes, he would still visit.

He kneeled beside the Buster sword, gripping the hilt and resting his forehead against the back of his gloved hand.

It had rained earlier and now the sky was a bright vivid blue and clear of clouds. He closed his eyes, took a deep calming breath and released it slowly, reveling in the fresh air.

His memories were still a mess of puzzle pieces waiting to be put together. Was this where Zack had truly died? Did he bury Zack here?

With his other hand, he grasped the ground and only felt the grainy dust.

She looks behind. Sees him stumble. It's not like him to stay down on his knees.
For a second she waits. Wonders why he isn't getting up. Until she notices how pale he is. Thinking back to the fight they just left behind. Would he be..?
She walks back. Places a hand on his shoulder. Feels him shrug it off. He stands up and starts walking again. Ignoring her worried look. Ignoreing her.
Of course she notices the blush on his cheeks. Embarrassed.
Shaking her head. He really should know better by now. She'd never think of him as weak...

The last exits and he, bewildered and face clutched, can't remember how to ask why. The last exits and she, ruffled and aflutter, chirps urgently to his silence. "Your first lover's sigh against your ear," she says, now perched on his shoulder. He looks down at his hands and smiles, content at last.
