Title: Untitled/still in the works
Prompt: #70 Thread
Original Fiction
Rating: G
Warnings: Japanese superstitions
Disclaimer: None
Summary: Some people are connected to one another whether they like it or not.
Author’s Note: This is from an on-going piece that I have been working on for about eleven years. All the main characters are Japanese. There is an old Japanese idea that two people who are destined to be together in the way of soul mates are connected by a red string or thread tied to their pinkies.

Daisuke gave her a hard look as she shook her head.
“No.” Rina said it firmly, though she felt her pinky twitch at the thought. “No,” she said again. She was not falling for that old superstition. Seven years was enough time. That tea at Kaoru’s apartment was enough. She was not connected by some ruby colored thread to the infuriating man. She had been in America too long to believe in old wives' tales.
Daisuke’s eyebrow rose. “You’re lying,” he commented.
Rina glared at him and bit her pinky meaningfully. “It’s just a finger. No thread. So, bite me.”
