"Daddy?"
The tiny voice floated down the dark hallway, tinged with a touch a panic. He rose wearily, for he knew what was coming. It was the fifth time in as many days that Rosalie had called out to him from the solitude of her pretty, pink, princess room.
"Daddy???"
"Coming sweetheart," he called back. He slipped out from beneath his comforter and reached for his bathrobe.
"I'm scared!" Her little arms were reaching for him as soon as he stepped inside her room. "I want a drink."
"I know, I brought you one."
"Where's mommy?"
If only he knew.
