Prompt #7, Waiting: Only A Fool Would Linger

This is my first post, so be gentle... Just kidding! Please be honest!

Title: Only A Fool Would Linger
Challenge/Prompt: #7 Waiting
Original Fiction
Rating: G
Summary: The effect of waiting for something you thought you truly wanted.
Author's Notes: Based loosely on a true story.

“Gimme a year.”

The words haunt her each day that passes, from the time she awakes to the moment the curtain of her mind closes and the audience disappears into blackness.

She gave the first year freely, through the roller coaster that followed the moment he spoke the words. The second passed so grudgingly, needing far more persuasion. Every step, every progression forward, ultimately felt as if they were made in vain.

The two of them aren’t even where they started; happy, content, with every little detail mapped out...

Tears well in her eyes as she takes another step back.

The description in this really brings out the bittersweet feeling of what she's going through.
