Title: Grief By Proxy
Challenge/Prompt: #16: Rain
Fanfiction: Dark Angel (but vague enough to read without fandom reliance)
Character: Alec (X5-494)
Rating: PG13
Genre: Angst
Warnings: Implied death, implied adult situation
Disclaimer: I don’t own any of it; I just play with it.
Summary: He dared not grieve openly.
Author's Notes: Inspired by TBA, S2 of DA and to commemorate Rachel’s untimely death. For the Alec (or Alec/Rachel) lovers of the world.
He had received his orders that evening and they’d watched him intently, eager for an emotional reaction. He refused to give them the satisfaction, instead staring blankly out the window, timing his breaths with the cracking thunder.
They didn’t care about his grief or the woman he loved whom they’d deemed collateral damage. They demanded blind obedience.
He blinked away the memory of a brunette with smiling eyes. The blonde on the bed was just another job.
And as he unbuttoned his pants, his eyes flickered to the darkened heavens.
He left the sky to weep, for he dared not.
