Title: Falling Into Fire
Prompt: Fall (#3)
Fanfiction: Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex
Characters: Batou
Rating: PG
Warnings: Contains no spoilers, but it might not make sense if you haven't seen the "Umibozu" episodes.
Summary: Run, Batou, run!
Author's Notes: Action scenes should be quick, clear, and clutter-free. No idea if this is, but I like it anyway.

Title: Colors
Prompt: Blue (#5)
Original: Character Sketches

Summary: Let's talk colors.
Author's Notes: I don't normally write romance. It shows.

Title: Interrogation
Challenge/Prompt: #3 - Fall
Original Fiction: Trath
Characters/Pairings: Tasllyn
Rating: R
Warnings: This one is a little bit gory. How much so depends on just how well you can visualize it.
Disclaimer: Characters and story are mine, and part of a larger project I'm working on.
Summary: During a battle with Alahain's army, Tasllyn's lover Faxon has disappeared. She believes that Alahain has captured him, and is interrogating a prisoner to find his whereabouts.
Author's Notes: This is a part of the story arc that really hasn't been developed much yet, but I think Tasllyn is definitely a darker character at this point. (Also, the ruler of one of the four unicorn clans is called the vy'shere, and it's probably one of the first times Tasllyn has seriously used her authority.)

“Where is Alahain keeping Faxon?” Tasllyn was every inch the vy’shere now.

The prisoner knelt, taciturn.

Tasllyn’s anger flared. She stormed up to the prisoner and knocked him to the floor. She placed her foot on his head. “Where is he?” She pressed down.

The man laughed. “Bare feet are no threat.”

Tasllyn concentrated. “And now?”

He now faced four hooves, one planted against his skull.

“I know nothing!”

“Fine.” His head smashed beneath her hoof. Tasllyn could feel the stares of the other unicorns. Perhaps they saw her mother in her. She shuddered. “Take the body and burn it.”

Paths.

Title: Paths.
Challenge/Prompt: Fall
Original Fiction
Characters: girl, handlers
Rating: PG
Warnings: None really.  I guess the handlers thing might be mildly disturbing.
Summary: They won't let her fall.

She meanders slowly along the garden path, stumbling over the occasional weeds that are growing in the cracks of the cobblestones.  The weeds are always there, regardless of the constant attention of the complex gardeners.

She is lost in her own thoughts, now, and she only notices that her handlers have been following her when she stumbles once more, and suddenly they're there, catching her on either side.

Then they step back again, but they're still ready to catch her if she falls.  Two paces behind.  Muted voices and padded footsteps are quickly becoming the soundtrack of her life.

Title: Fallout
Challenge/Prompt: Fall
Original Fiction
Rating: PG
Warnings: None

Erikk was lost in his own heart, trying to escape the desolate field of ruin and decay that he had become. His world had been shattered by the explosive finality of her words: I don't love you anymore. In the fallout, despair had settled upon him like a thick blanket of ash, smothering and destroying him.

“He's been unconscious for a week,” the doctor said. “Keeps talking about bombs, and the authorities are asking questions. Any idea what he means?”

“I wouldn't know,” she lied. In his darkness, more bombs fell, and ashes continued to rain down from the sky.

Title: The truth in choices.
Challenge/Prompt: Fall
Original Fiction or Fanfiction: Original Fiction
Characters/Pairings: Monologue
Rating: G
Warnings: None
Disclaimer: No money back
Summary: A quick writing that I had no idea where it was going.

Author's Notes: I like to ramble

Simple really. There are only two choices that make up life, you do or you don't. The problem with simplicity is that it usually hides complex consequences. These consequences can lead up to disastrous results, which in turn can lead to your downfall. To do or not to do. But that is what makes it so exciting, the thrill of the mistake. The glory of taking that chance. So I will take that chance. I think I'll fall in love with you. Because falling is the only thing I know how to do. And I do it well.

Title: Choose
Challenge/Prompt: Fall
Original Fiction or Fanfiction: Original Fiction
Characters/Pairings: Amelia & Simon
Rating: G
Warnings: Nada.
Disclaimer: My stuff.
Summary: Amelia's adventure is almost at an end.

Author's Notes: Takes place near the end of the story's timeline.

The sky was dark, and the wind tasted electric.

“You have to choose.”

She was given a paper, the bottom edge curling and bending in the sudden wind. It was headed with LETTER OF RESIGNATION in 40pt Arial. Amelia stepped back.

“It's your choice. Our relationship or your career.”

Back again. Another step. And just like him, Simon pushed forward.

“Which will you choose?”

She felt it against the back of her legs. Metal and cement and fear mixed with uncertainty. What if she chose wrong?

Amelia looked over the edge of the building. It was a 20-story fall.

Title: Shift
Challenge/Prompt: “Fall”
Original Fiction or Fanfiction Fan Fiction [Dark Angel]: Walk the Long Road
Characters/Pairings: Max (X5-452), Zack (X5-599)
Rating: G
Warnings: None
Disclaimer: I don’t own Dark Angel. I just play with it.
Summary: He remembered - and it worried her.
Author's Notes: This is for a fan fiction story (“Walk the Long Road”) that I’ve been playing with off and on over the past year. Originally, the scene (or this portion of) was about 170 words. It was a challenge to cut it down and see if I could still say what I wanted.

"You remember?" she yelped.

"If by remember you mean notice that you're still living the fantasy of a normal life, then yes, I remember."

Max froze. Would he deny everything that had happened now that his memory had returned? She wasn’t sure she could deal with Soldier Zack again. Her feelings had changed and she feared he might crush the faint hope that had taken root within her heart.

"Why are you still in Seattle, Max?"

She shrugged. "It's home."

His eyes narrowed and he growled, “Because of him?"

Max smiled inwardly. Was that jealousy?

She reached for him.

"Not anymore."

Title:  Fall Asleep or Lie Awake Trying
Challenge/Prompt:  Fall
Original Fiction:  The Charmer
Characters/Pairings:  Grace Landon, Critter Charmer / Sir Quinn, Arrogant Knight
Rating:  PG
Warnings:  Mention of cuddly-sleepy-times?
Disclaimer:  World and characters belong to me
Summary:  Don't you just hate random thought attacks that keep you up to all hours of the night?  Yeah.  So does Grace.

Author's Notes:  This is my first drabble here, so I'm crossing my fingers and hoping I didn't totally miss the point.  Thank you for reading~ =)

Had sleep given up on her, or had she given up on sleep?  Blinking blearily at the night-stand clock (a somewhat uncomfortable 3:22 AM), it wasn’t an easy call to make.  When was the last time she’d fallen asleep quickly and stayed so the whole night through?  If there had ever been a time for such normalcy in her life, she certainly couldn’t remember it now.

Her only consolation in all the insanity came in the form of a too-proud knight, who was currently curled up beside her, snoring lightly.  Of all the men to fall for... why him?

Title: Fall
Challenge/Prompt: Fall
Original Fiction
Rating: PG
Warnings: Disturbing mental imagery
Summary: The plague crept in on little rat feet...
Author's Notes: It has a formatting structure that lends itself to the effect. Does that make it poetry? I don't know. It's a drabble, anyway. Old idea (in several ways) rehashed.

It all started with the rats, or maybe the fleas, like that other plague centuries ago. Rats get everywhere, crawling through our basements, stores, cars. No one expected that it would be transmitted species-to-species because we trusted the stories. The plague crept in on little rat feet and down went our cats and dogs and our children and us,
in one of those great exponential cascades, falling like lurching dominoes
leaving we few: the lucky, the quick, the immune, the prepared.
Times are tougher than we ever imagined,
just we and the zombies
on the dying earth
alone.

Welcome back! Thanks again to everyone who participated in last week's prompt. (And a special thanks to everyone who commented -- these are always appreciated by the authors!)

If you're visiting us for the first time, we're glad to have you. Feel free to jump in and have a go at our third prompt.

This week's prompt is... #3: Fall.

There are many ways to approach the word, "fall". It's a season, a physical force of gravity, and has several figurative abstract concepts. Even the most powerful can fall from grace, fall in love, or maybe even fall short of a goal they set for themselves. Perhaps immorality is involved, or worse yet, things can completely fall apart, and into ruin.

If you'd like to read over the definition of the word "fall", click here for Merriam-Webster's official write up.

No matter which way you fall, remember to keep it to 100 words!

Please follow the posting format in the official [community profile] fiction_drabbles profile, and show us what you can do!

(*Note, do not reply to this post with your drabbles, be sure to make a new post for each one.)
