The lighthouse was over a hundred years old, and the historical society had laid down strict rules for its rehabilitation. Thankfully, though Gwynt had trouble reading words, he was quite all right with diagrams and schematics, and good with his hands. The old lighthouse's interior was snug, well-lit, and well-tended.

They had few visitors, which was just how Gwynt preferred it. People tended not to notice things, but habit left him suspicious that someday someone would notice that the rebuilt stairs were almost suspiciously un-worn, but the windows in the lantern room opened from both sides and were regularly used.
