“If you do anything to harm Aang, I will not hesitate to kill you,” Katara laid the threat down on the ground before turning and stomping out of the room, leaving Zuko uncertain of his true worth to the group.



He knew his arrival had drawn forth the cloud of suspicion from everyone. Well those mainly who had been with the Avatar in the beginning. He couldn’t blame them in the least. Not after all the things he had done in the past but he was sincerely trying to lift that cloud of suspicion and become someone they could trust.

Being the Avatar, Aang must walk the fine line of a double edge sword. He must keep the balance of the world in place or much like the chaos that had been present for a hundred years will return. It is that double edge that worries me about the future. I often find myself wondering if he is ready to become what he was borne for. He’s still a child and still naïve to the world around him but is he truly ready to be on the verge of something much more? Only time will be able to answer that.

Long slender tanned fingers rapped against the polished wood of the bottom banister as soft water blue eyes lifted upward towards the top. Katara was going to give one more minute and then she was gone.



Already she had been waiting for him appear for nearly twenty minutes and the party had already begun in full swing. Of course Katara would not be out there to enjoy it. Not with her husband still taking in account to his appearance. Sometimes she wondered if Zuko should have been a woman with all his primping and preening in front of the mirror.

Summary: Aboard the prison ship, Zuko finds Katara's betrothal necklace on the ground.
Author's Notes: Forgive me if this makes little sense. I haven't had much sleep at all yesterday (three hours tops). This came from an episode dealing with Katara losing her necklace aboard a prison ship and Zuko finding it.



The moment Zuko planted his booted feet upon the steel flooring of the prison he knew he had missed the young Avatar and the two water peasants by mere moments. He could see by the destruction and lack of prisoners – as well as guards – that they had been successful in retrieving whatever they had come for.



His golden eyes lifted and swept across the debris only to catch sight of something blue glistening off the fading sun light. He moved quickly and retrieved it from the ground, noting that it had been the necklace belonging to the female Waterbender.



Katara.
