It’s closing time. She’s busy wiping the glasses when she hears the door slammed open and then she twists, preparing to slug—

“Cloud?” she asks, taken back. Something’s wrong. The wary way he walks over to a stool and sits down, his body heavy with fatigue, alarms her. 

“I’m fine,” he says. “I just had a rough night.” A crooked smile on his lips. “I’m not as young as I feel anymore,” he lightly jokes.

She lets it go for now. “Right.”

(She fails to notice a long strand of silver hair being carefully brushed aside from a broad shoulder.)

You caught sight of that necklace around his neck, a gift from his now ex girlfriend. That was when Love decided to strike.

Even as your heart screamed in pure agony, it was a pain of silence. You thought you would cry, but you couldn’t, watching everything you thought would happen simply vanish into oblivion.

There is nothing left now.

Sometimes, he would still visit.

He kneeled beside the Buster sword, gripping the hilt and resting his forehead against the back of his gloved hand.

It had rained earlier and now the sky was a bright vivid blue and clear of clouds. He closed his eyes, took a deep calming breath and released it slowly, reveling in the fresh air.

His memories were still a mess of puzzle pieces waiting to be put together. Was this where Zack had truly died? Did he bury Zack here?

With his other hand, he grasped the ground and only felt the grainy dust.
