Rating:PG-13 / K+

Summary:  She's straight edge. He's not, so much.
Author's Notes:  i started thinking about cover songs and everything just went downhill from there.

~

She's straight edge. Solemn workaholic.

A shiv for every occasion, a prayer for every casualty. Kris: deposed regent. Scalpel: drunk surgeon. Icepick to forehead: overly intimate psychotherapist.

She's straight edge. He's not, so much.

His works sing whimsy and misfortune. Death by falling piano, cyanide sweet hyacinth, bullet to brain then stake to heart.

Playing at courtship, he murders with precision. Just once. Mozambique drill for a mercenary: bang bang boom.

"Ever heard NIN, Vegas lounge style?" he says on their first date. "Like that. But opposite."

"My turn, yes?" She smiles, eyes on passing waiter's jugular, calculating fork trajectories.

Title: Old Shield
Fandom: Transformers
Continuity: Bayverse
Rating: G
Character: Sideswipe
Warnings: none
Prompt: cover

Things Sideswipe had lost count of: the number of battles he’d fought; the number of Decepticon confirmed-kills he had, and the number of times that Ironhide’s words had welled up from some deep area in the back of his programming to save his aft.

Cover blocked fire; concealment did not.  And neither, ever, were safe, guaranteed.

He’d hated Ironhide back then, flinched at that grating voice, sneered at the battered black armor as he clomped past, so unlike Sideswipe’s own lithe, silver frame.

“You know nothing, old wreck,” he’d said back then, throwing hard words at Ironhide’s hard-learned lessons.

Then.

Title: Shield
Challenge/Prompt: #86 - Cover
Original Fiction
Rating: PG-13
Warnings: Violence.

As the last moments of dusk faded from the evening sky, she tightened her grip on his hand. She could just barely make out the silhouettes of several men lingering in the darkness ahead.

"Trouble up there," he said, kissing her forehead. "Let's turn back."

Before they could escape, thundering footsteps overtook them. Hooded men cornered her boyfriend, punching and kicking him ruthlessly until he fell to the ground. Shoving her way into the crowd, she used her body to shield him from their blows.

With her last breath she whispered, "I love you," before her world faded into obscurity.
