In pain, this is the reaction:
wanting, wishing, willing
for it to go far, far away,
an unknown destination
in the fairytale lands,
or by the beach,
kites flying high
in the blue skies.

When it does, you develop
the paths to self-destruction,
corroding, corrupting, killing
your will, your self-respect,
your sense of being.

Unable to function,
your mind, a mess
of emotions.

Now shut it all out—
an untouched pond,
the eye of the storm,
a clearing;
only you and Nature.

The scars are still there,
carved deep within
your fractured mind,
your paths to follow
to the end.
