Title: It Only Takes One
Challenge/Prompt:#70 - Thread
Original Fiction
Rating: G
Warnings: None
Disclaimer: None, I own all of this.
Summary: A fate weaver performing an important service.
Author's Notes: First time writing in years, so crit is appreciated.

It was so small, yet so precious.

The woman looked over the golden thread as she held it up from the weave. It appeared almost pained from the way she was tugging at it. Persistently. Mercilessly. She lifted the scissors up once she had enough of a space between the thread and the tapestry to slip the tip through, and paused.

From across the room, her client coughed. A frown twitched across her face momentarily, and she cut the thread. It was more resistant than she'd expected, but the fibers parted easily enough.

"There, have fun with your new fate."

Challenge/Prompt: #71 - Silver
Original Fiction
Rating: G
Warnings: None
Author's notes: I have no idea where this came from. Woot, Write or Die. And this comm!

There's usually an attempt at smalltalk, first, muffled and hesitant, no one sure how much is allowed. Awkwardness soon defeats us. We shrug, smile helpless. No point -- we won't speak away from here. And the silver ones don't understand speech, anyway.

Silence hangs. The wooden benches swallow sounds. Sometimes you hear a rustle, a cough.

Eventually, the singing starts: a single clear note like a stone's descent, and then another. A second voice, harmonies building. No one knows what it means. We listen, heads bowed. The music fills us, fills the chapel, echoes into our uneven minds, promising peace.

Title: Preparing
Challenge/Prompt: #71 - silver
Original Fiction or Fanfiction: Original
Characters/Pairings: Jackie, Selina
Rating: PG
Warnings: only implied

I don't know anything about werewolves, and I don't know much about antiques either, so I'm following Selena around. She knows more about this than I do.

"See the patina on this, Jackie? Nickel. No good."

I nodded and followed into the next row of the antique market. It was getting dark outside and the full moon was hanging bright.

"Not much time," she opened another silverware case. "No knives in this one. Forks, you think?"

"I'll make it work," I told her and we went to the register to pay. "Explain again the best place to stab a werewolf?"

Summary: With threats all around there is one thing that comforts Severine.
Author's Notes: This is preliminary work for nanowrimo this year.

Severine sits close to the window. Night presses against the panes until it seems it might seep in. She won't be safe here for long, even with Reese typing furiously on the Remington.

There is one comfort. The single silver coin that was her dowry; the only reminder she has of the past. It's the little bit that she pushes down most other days. This tiny, shiny thing reminds her that she was human once, before this all began. She could bruise her hand squeezing it for reassurance tonight.

Her confidence restored she tucks it away and opens the window.
