Author's Notes: This pair had a rocky beginning....

No compulsion. No mindless drive to obey the carnal impulse. Only this moment, a shy hesitating kiss of love and hope.

Richard moaned, almost silently, when Ryder took the offered kiss and gently assumed control of it. He felt safe from threats as Ryder cupped him closer, yet still afraid. This was wrong, by his mother's teachings. It was all Richard wanted, though, to promise himself forever, all in one kiss.

Ryder heard the silent promise, breaking the kiss, and just pulling the smaller man in to cradle him close for the day. They had time, to learn each other.

I ended reading this with a big happy sigh. I particularly love the bit about Richard wanting forever in one kiss.
