Freedom was a concept that Cyth had learned never to discuss. It meant different things to different people, who were all willing to argue at length about it.

Most people who knew him thought he wouldn't know the meaning of the word 'free' if it bit him; married to his job, they'd say. Married to his duty.

But he did know what 'free' was. It was, most simply, the capability to do what you wanted to do and not be stopped.

Married to his job? Chained to his duty? Cyth knew himself as the most free man on the planet.
