The Valkyrie sips her mead to siren songs by delirious DJ's. Alcohol warms her throat; October wind chills her bones.

Come back to me.

She ignores happy ghosts, glitterbug flirts, honey eyed vixens working through their "just an experiment, hon, i sweeear," phase.

Come back to me, babe.

Ignores the dead girl with rope burns around her neck.

Come back to me, babe.  When your mask cracks, when they discover who you are, where you've been...

"I'm fine," the Valkyrie whispers, fingertips tracing parallel scars etched on her wrists, "I'm safe."

I thought I was too.
