Summary: There's this firm that does supersecret things in Chicago, and a small mob of employees tried for a coup.
12:14. The watch face is cracked but the second hand's still moving. He tries to tighten his grip on the torn leather band, but his fingers won't move. The smoke is finally beginning to clear; he can make out the edges of his office furniture, of the still human forms on the floor.
He waits as long as he can stand before looking.
12:16. Backup should be here by now.
Overhead, the alarm rings, shrill and persistent, cutting through the dull throb in his ears. He lets his head rock, spits blood on the thin carpet.
They'll be here.

Summary: Immortality ain't all that.
Author's Notes: Somehow this became the emo-est story that emoed its way out of Emoville. Sorry.
Hips rise, toes curl, breath hitches in a throat pulled taught. Eyelids flutter and close for longer than a blink.
Afterward, he watches the curve of her back disappear under a silk blouse, watches her sweep her hair over her shoulder, tucking her chin to watch her own fingers fumble over abalone buttons.
The words crawl past his lips before he can stop them, before he can lie. "Do you ever wish we could do this, be this, forever?"
She pauses, but she doesn't turn to meet his eyes. "I won't waste time on wishes. And we gave forever up."
