He waits in the castle still, the black hearted child.

Coal dark eyes and teeth cast in silver. A loyal servant for all seasons. Favourite of the queen, and her mother before her. Beauty withers, cunning overtakes wisdom; the child remains. 

He waits by the pyres, the black hearted child.

Flames buffet his face. Skin chars, heals. Coal dark eyes flicker red then black. The kindling in the pyres has stopped its screams; the last of the winter queens is ash and bone now.

He waits by the ruins, the black hearted child.

Until another queen calls him to service.

I love this. The concept is eery, as is the child's seeming devotion/servitude/slavery. The whole section about the ashes and kindling is just beautiful. The imagery is amazing. Great job!
