The Iyashu and his retinue were settled comfortably around the parapet, watching the soldiers and the guardsmen train in the courtyard below.
"So, what did he do to be cursed?" asked one of the Kiyachi guardsmen, leaning to his fellow.
"Apparently he fell in love," said his friend, with a shrug.
The guardsman frowned. "Since when is that a crime?"
One of he Iyashu's retinue, listening, turned to face them. "It is not, for you. For us, it is madness. He was cursed for his madness."
The two guardsmen stared, uncomprehending.
"He slaughtered whole families, he's mad," the Orunai clarified.

Date: 2012-05-07 11:41 pm (UTC)And in general it's considered madness for Orunai - all. They don't really grok romantic love. They can, with sufficient translation, grok relationships. (See: Esvan). But love tends to hit Orunai brains in largely unhealthy ways. In part this is a source of their facination with the concept. Unless Taran comes up in conjunction with it.
