Title: The Aftermath
Pairing/Characters: Richard
Rating/Category: PG / Gen
Word Count: 100
Prompt: Fate
Spoilers: Umm...this one sits smack dab toward the middle of full canon for the character, but is at the capstone of a major plot arc.
Notes/Warnings: Destruction, widespread
Richard surveyed the ruins of the major cities from a distance. Even he did not wish to feel radiation's sting. That so much of Paris and other cities still stood, deemed obsolete as a threat, did nothing to ease his feeling of loss, for their streets remained mostly empty as well.
This was what Fate had chosen, yet he had defied Her in the end. By his will, his alliances, the legacy of Earth still existed out in the unknowns of space. Now, he merely had to nurture what remained into being able to rejoin the ones he had saved.
