They do not name her, now.
They deified her once, with sleek wings, osprey eyes, desert bronzed skin. They deified her with with an ocean's temerity, a locust swarm's hunger. Sixfold wings, woven from muslin and dragonskin. A gaze that portends typhoons, a whisper that cleaves mountains, a sword that holds gods at bay.
Mere flesh, she only ever outwitted emperors and routed armies. Only ever ended pogroms and fostered insurrection. Her deeds they wrote to history, then legend, then myth.
They have new gods, now. New rulers, ever hungry.
They do not name her, now. They do not dare.
