I've been lurking around since about prompt 52. I usually write novel-length fiction; I can't tell a complete story in under 10,000 words to save my life. This community is actually the first time I've tried drabbles since I know I can't write short stuff and my stories are all original fic anyway. I'm up to about fifteen of them all sitting in a .doc file on my hard drive, not doing anything.
Fifteen's obviously a bit much to post all at once, so here are what I think are the four best. )

Subject Line of Entry: Title or Brief Summary

Title: Deadly Serious
Challenge/Prompt: Serious
Original Fiction
Rating:G
Summary: Court jesters aren't always jesting.

The trickster laughed heartily, and all the room laughed with him because his laugh was infectious. It was a jolly sound that echoed through the throne room, bounced off the walls, and dared anyone to keep a smile from their face.

He'd just threatened one of the nobles brilliantly, and with the flash of a daring smile that had been more of a baring of teeth. No one insulted the woman he loved! The court thought he was joking, though. So they all laughed. It had it's problems, being the court jester.

No one knew when to take him seriously.
